Market Prep: Critical Moment for the Markets Ahead

Tomorrow—January 2—is the first trading day of 2026, kicking off what could be a pivotal year. Both the NASDAQ and SPX closed out 2025 on a surprisingly weak, with ugly bearish candles defying the typical year-end rally we’d all expected from Wall Street after a strong year.

We’re now sitting right on a crucial support level for the SPX. If this breaks, there’s very little underneath to stop a sharp drop to much lower levels—potentially triggering a painful correction that catches many off guard. (See charts below for the technical setup.)
